DreamWorks’ Set To Produce Need For Speed,The Movie

Having had a successful run with the game, Electronic Arts is not about to end there. Dreamworks Studios are taking responsibility for bringing everybody’s favorite driving game to life in the cinema

The story tells of a local street-racer (Paul) who partners with a rich and arrogant business associate (Cooper), only to find himself framed by his colleague and sent to prison. After his stint in the joint, he joins a New York-to-Los Angeles race to get revenge. But when the ex-partner learns of the scheme, he puts a massive bounty on the racer’s head, forcing him to run a cross-country gauntlet of illegal racers in all manner of supercharged vehicles.

Kid Cudi and Dominic Cooper also star alongside one of our all-time favorite actors, the legendary Michael Keaton. Fans of Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s seminal zombie flick, 28 Weeks Later, will recognise Imogen Poots  and the cast is rounded out by Ramon RodriguezRami Malek and Harrison Gilbertson.

Keaton will play the reclusive and eccentric host of an underground supercar race where he invites the best drivers from around the world.George Gatins penned the screenplay. His brother, Flight scribe John Gatins, is producing with Mark Sourian and Patrick O’Brien.

The movie will be directed by Scott Waugh (Men of Valor), with a script by John Gatins (Flight).

“Although the details are pretty locked down right now, we’ll be breaking all the news you need to stay up to date on the movie”, said a statement on the Official Need For Speed Website
